Jaipur, 13 April: In a programme entitled ‘Jeevan Yatra’, young and old musicians of the Langa-Manganiyar community rendered soulful songs at the Jawahar Kala Kendra lawns today morning. Folk songs that are sung on different life occasions from birth to death were performed by the Langa-Manganiyars. Some of the songs that were performed included ‘Lakhpat’ (sung to celebrate birth), ‘Chidkaliya Ri Chaanch’ (sung to wake up the baby), ‘Pagadiya Ra Pech’ (sung while the groom dresses up), ‘Ujli Bhabhoot Mastak Sohe’ (Sung in the wedding procession), among others. The audience was mesmerized by the poignant music of the Kamaicha, Sarangi and Dholak accompanying the vocalists.

The ninety minutes long performance was curated by Anwar Khan, Gazi Khan, Kheta Khan and Kuldip Kothari. The event was jointly organized by Jawahar Kala Kendra and Jaipur Virasat Foundation.
