Press Release

The Jaipur Polo Team was launched again after 7 decades today by Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh at the Ashok Club during a press conference. He said that the new Jaipur team will participate in this season as well as in  the significant Indian Cups across major centres. It is indeed a momentous occasion as the revived Jaipur Polo Team will relive History and inspire a new generation of players. The new team is set to recreate the triumphs of its predecessor, including the legendary 1957 victory at Deauville, France, he said.

Maharaja Padmanabh Singh unveiled the Jaipur Polo Team jersey during the media briefing. Also present on the occasion were: Federation of International Polo (FIP) Ambassador of India, Maharaj Narendra Singh; Secretary, RPC, Digvijay Singh; Joint Secretary, RPC, Vikramaditya Barkana and Editor of Jaipur Polo Magazine, Ankur Mishra. The T-shirt has been recreated from the earlier times and is exactly like which was worn by the Late Maharaja Sawai Man Singh’s victorious Jaipur team.

On the relaying of the ground, Maharaja Padmanabh said that after the gap of 40 years, the ground will now see new grass that requires minimum water, high tech machinery and modern systems. It is ready and is looking very good. He further added that the objective was to make Jaipur into an international polo hub and elevating the RPC ground to rival the best in the world.

The September polo season of this year will be 2 months long. Earlier, it used to be only of 2 weeks. This will be a great bonanza for the Jaipur’s polo lovers, Maharaja Padmanabh said.
