The 14th edition ‘Jaipur Jewellery Show’ (JJS 2017) also known as the ‘December Show’ began on 22 December with a large number of visitors thronging the venue, at JECC in Sitapura. There was a distinct atmosphere of euphoria and an enthusiasm.  The regular visitors and participants of the past editions said that never before have so many quality visitors come on the very first day of the glittering event. This year the mega jewellery show is also very professionally organized, they opined.

The show was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp and cutting of the ribbon aptly by Ms. Sumedha Dularbhji, wife of late Mr. Rashmikant Durlabhji who had been the force behind the setting up of the JJS. It is to be recalled that the first edition of the Show was held in 2003. The Guest of Honour, the Chairman of GJF, Mr. Nitin Khandelwal was also present on the occasion.

The Chairman said that he has been attending the JJS from the very first edition itself and has always been impacted by the meticulous and flawless planning and execution of the event. He said the meeting of the GJF members will be held at the JECC itself during the event.

The 4-day event is being organized on the theme “Ruby… Red, Rare and Royal”.

On the occasion the JJS Convener, Mr. Vimal Chand Surana said that the show with its strong foundation had carved a niche for itself. He further said that he was sure that the event will stand to benefit both the exhibitors and the participants.

The Secretary, JJS, Mr. Rajiv Jain said that a special feature of the Show this year is the Jaipur Jewellery Design Festival which is an integrated part of the event. The festival, which will have a bloggers meet, gallery of designer walls, talk shows will give a fillip to the creativity of the designers. With over 800 stalls in this edition, the Show had grown 15 times in 15 years.

The Spokesperson of the JJS, Mr Ajay Kala said that with 70 per cent of designer booths at the Show there is a unique ambience. The show is generating a large number of business queries not seen before. He also informed that more than 150 top jewellery retailers of the country are attending this glittering event.

New trends witnessed

Visitors at the JJS this time have evinced keen interest in fusion and lightweight jewellery. The show has also witnessed ample use of coloured gemstones in Kundan Meena jewellery. These trends have generated quantum business queries.

Jewellery pieces to go for auction 

This year too JJS-IJ (Jaipur Jewellery Show — Indian Jeweller) has added an attraction to the IJ awards in the form of Auction. The exquisite pieces of work from across India are on display during the show. Visitors are bidding for the best of the best pieces. Out of the 120 finalist pieces chosen from 600 entries across India, around 61 products are available for auction. The pieces includes bridal sets, necklaces, cocktail rings, designer bracelets and hair and men accessories. It ranges from Rs. 1,35,000 to Rs. 90,00,000.

Tomorrow, on 23 December the MD, GIA India & Middle East, Nirupa Bhatt will visit at the JJS and JJDF.

Jaipur Jewellery Design Festival

An integrated feature of JJS – the Jaipur Jewellery Design Festival was also launched today. On the occasion, a book entitled – ‘India Inspired’ authored by Preeta Agarwal was also released. The book features as many as 45 jewellery designers from India and abroad. The book captures the achievements, design styles, journeys of the designers. On day 1 of the JJDF, a bloggers’ meet on the topic – ‘The Impact of Social Media in the Jewellery Industry’ was also held. The panel featured Writer and Journalist, Ms. Preeta Agarwal; Fashion Blogger, Ms. Shreya Kalra and Jewellery Blogger, Ms. Prerna Makharia. Discussions were held on topics of paid content, the significance of a good image on social media, jewellers’ digital transition, among others.
