The Two prestigious International Training programs on Leadership and Strategic Management in Healthcare (October 30 -November 3 2017) & Family Planning and Reproductive Health Commodity Security (October 23-November 3, 2017) concluded on 3 November at Indian Institute of Health Management and Research University (IIHMR).

International Training program on Leadership and Strategic Management in Healthcare was attended by 17 senior-most officials from Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka, along with the Minister of Health Hon. Dr. G Gunaseelan, Minister of Health, Northern Provincial Council, Sri Lanka. The primary objective of the program was to enhance leadership and managerial competencies of the professionals engaged in health sector managing and implementing the various national level programs in Sri Lanka. The program was inaugurated by Dr. D S Gupta, Chairman, IIHMR University.

Around twenty five participants from eight countries namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Nepal, Timor-Leste and Vietnam participated in the Training program on family Planning and Reproductive Health Commodity Security which was jointly organized by IIHMR and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The major objective of the program was to enhance leadership and managerial competencies of the professionals engaged in various countries looking after the Family Planning and Reproductive Health Program. Dr. PR Sodani, Pro-President, IIHMR University, shared that the major objective of the program was to enhance leadership and managerial competencies of the professionals engaged in various countries looking after the Family Planning and Reproductive Health Program.

The course was offered by a team of resource persons, from UNFPA and IIHMR, with extensive international experience and exposure in health program management which had mix of training methods including lecture-cum-discussion, case analysis, group work, assignment, field visits and experiential learning.

On this occasion, Dr. Vinit Sharma, Regional Adviser – RH & RHCS, UNFPA, Asia Pacific Regional Office, Bangkok, Thailand shared that UNFPA and IIHMR had a joint consultation to design and develop the course curriculum, training methodology, and course coverage for a two-week International Training Program on Family Planning and Reproductive Health Commodity Security (FP/RHCS).
