The first MUJ National Media Fest UMEED-2024 was successfully organized by the School of Media and Communication, Manipal University Jaipur. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of media students from 12 different states and 25 universities. Prof. Sudhi Rajiv, Vice-Chancellor, Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication graced the inaugural ceremony as chief guest. She appreciated the MUJ School of Media and Communication for the initiative to provide the platform to the media students to showcase their talents. Senior Editor of NDTV India Mr. Himanshu Shekhar joined as the guest of honour and encouraged the students to adapt to the new age challenges of journalism.  He said that universities should consider Disaster Communication as part of their curriculum. Dr. Ajit Pathak, the National President of Public Relations Society of India graced the festival as guest of honour. He motivated the students to go for ethical practices in Public Relations. Dr. G K Prabhu, President, MUJ blessed the students with his inspiring words of wisdom. He talked about the development of creative quotient of students and stressed on the curricular and co-curricular activities for the all-round development of students. Dr. Komal Audichya, Dean Faculty of Arts welcomed the guests and participants through her welcome address. She highlighted the achievements of the school of media and communication. On this occasion the President MUJ Dr. G K Prabhu and all other dignitaries released the “SMC Chronicle” the departmental newsletter edited and published by the students of journalism and mass communication. Dr. Fakira Mohan Nahak, Head, School of Media and Communication delivered the vote of thanks.  

In the valedictory session senior journalist from Zee Media Mr. Shashi Mohan joined the event and advised the students how to prepare for a career in mainstream media. There were a total of 10 competitions like News reporting, TV Anchoring, Spill poetry, MUJ Mic clash, Manch Maharathi (Skit competition), Photography, Documentary film, Wordsmith, Ad Quest and media quiz organised simultaneously. More than 150 participants from 12 different states and 25 universities participated in the competitions. Students from Banasthali Vidyapeeth won maximum competitions and got the overall champions trophy.

All participants, students and faculty members expressed their happiness and satisfaction after having a mesmerizing experience in the MUJ National Media Fest UMEED-2024.
