Concluding day of the week long ‘Wonderful Workshops’
An initiative by Jaipur Virasat Foundation and Hotel Diggi Palace

Jaipur, 11 February: The week long ‘Wonderful Workshops’ will conclude with a craft exhibition at Diggi Palace tomorrow. ‘Wonderful Workshops’ is an initiative by Jaipur Virasat Foundation, Arts and Crafts Professional Frances Ronaldson and Hotel Diggi Palace. Started in 2005, it is a series of exceptional workshops led by local master craftsmen as well as well known international artistes.

As many as 6 workshops are conducted over a period of a week such as ‘Taste of India’ by ladies of the Diggi family, ‘Sparkling Surfaces’ (jewellery making) by Andrew Logan, ‘Miniature Painting’ by Olivia Dalrymple and Ajay Sharma, ‘Stiches of the Desert’ by Lucy Goffin and Rachna Singh, ‘Mud Resistant Print and Indigo Dye’ by Natalie Gibson, Di Livey and Raj Kanwar and ‘Fabulous Photography’ by Annie Owen.

The workshops take place over a week at Diggi palace, and specific workshops take place over venues specially selected for the subject which include craft studios and specialists workshops in the walled city.

 

The wonderful workshop program promotes heritage conservation, cross cultural collaboration and promotion of the dying arts and crafts of Rajasthan. Apart from specific sessions with the masters, the workshop also includes guided early morning walks in the old city, accompanied tours to the bazaars and expeditions to places of specific interest to the workshop subject.  The work produced by the participants in the last one week is exhibited on the last day (tomorrow) at Diggi Palace from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm.
