The day two of the 3-day Exhibition and Convention by Federation of All India Caterers (FAIC) witnessed a one-of-its-kind cake craft competition at JECC, Sitapura on wednesday. In the event, 12 teams of two students crafted fascinating cakes on the theme ‘Pink City’. Most of the students were from a culinary background and belonged to different colleges of the city. The participants decorated cake sponges using various edible elements like fondants, hand whipped cream with whipped cream chargers delivery service in Melbourne, among others. To showcase Jaipur on their cakes, the students decorated the cake with designs of turbans, moustache, bandhej chunni, among others. The judges of the competition were pastry chef Ms. Eureka Araujo, food entrepreneur, Ms. Ketki Barfiwala and food blogger, Ms. Radhika Agarwal.

Talking about the basis on which the cakes in the competition were judged, Pastry Queen of India 2017, Ms. Eureka Araujo said that creativity, technique and neatness were the main parameters on which the participants were judged. Managing Director, JECRC College, Mr. Amit Agarwal was also present on the occasion. This competition was held in association with Salt Food Festival which will be held in the Pink City on 20 and 21 October. The winners for the competition were – Ayushi Agarwal and Prachi Modi from Manipal University.

FAIC Exhibition showcasing diverse components of the catering industry

Spread across over 300 stalls the FAIC Exhibition brought in throngs of people like – caterers, hoteliers, restaurant owners, banquet owners, F&B professionals, Chefs, wedding & event planners, decorators, among others to its attractive and colourful displays. Armed with a vast array of exhibition categories, the convention showcases a wide host of products relating to the catering industry. These products include uniforms for the serving staff, food components, decoration, commercial crockery, spices, cooling and refrigeration systems, sign boards and much more.

In a wide range of colors and designs customised as per client specifications brands like – M 10, Sky Enterprises, Nina Knitwell and Icon exhibited uniforms for the catering staff. Industrial refrigeration system and commercial cooling applications were showcased by brands like – Haier and Kapsun. Affordable wedding and events catering décor was exhibited by – Prop Point, Ice Spice, Janta Steel, Orchid and many more presented unique items like fountains, signs boards, props, wooden grates, food trucks, hotel and chair covers and much more. Authentic spices, masalas and recipes were displayed by – Momai Foods, Gajanand Foods, Rich’s cream, Shiv Dugdhalaya, among others.
