The 3-day Convention and Exhibition by the Federation of All Indian Caterers (FAIC) concluded with a felicitation ceremony at JECC, Sitapura on Thursday. The core committee members of all participant states and event partners were felicitated.  On the occasion, The Secretary of FAIC, Mr. Kirit Budhdev urged the caterers to apply the knowledge, they have gained through this convention, in the execution of their work. He also said that the caterers of different states should hold small scale programmes on regional level as well to discuss the various issues faced by the catering community.

The 3 day event witnessed a host of enlightening talk shows, workshops and motivational speeches by industry stalwarts. It is to be recalled that the mega event offered a platform to over 5000 participants from across the country with 750 participants from Rajasthan. Not only has this, a whopping 300 stalls featuring wares for the catering industry was also exhibited over the 3 days. The visitors got the chance to sample unique cuisines, have their queries answered, observe product demos and network with the catering fraternity.

TALK SHOW BY RENOWNED CATERERS OF INDIA

A talk show on the topic ‘Opportunities and Challenges’ featured the well-known caterers from across the country like – President, FAIC, Mr. Narendra Somani; Pankaj Kothari from Bangalore; Pratap Jadeja from Hyderabad; Lalit Jain from Mumbai; Pandit Ram Niwas from Delhi; Sagar from Nashik and Anil from Delhi. The show was conducted by Mr. Nikhil Tipnis from Mumbai.

Highlighting the major challenges of the catering industry, Mr. Somani said that there is a need to establish training institutions to address the challenge of lack of skilled labour force. Mr. Jain took up the issues relating to the high GST rates and said that concerned efforts should be made by all States to unite and request the government authorities to take due action in this regard.

Mr. Sagar said the unceremonious plastic ban has left the catering industry at a loss with no alternative way forward. The rest of the country should also plan alternatives as the ban is likely to spread to other States.

WORKSHOP BY DR. PAWAN AGARWAL OF MUMBAI DABBAWALLA

In a workshop on ‘Masters of Supply Chain’, International Motivational Speaker, Dr. Pawan Agarwal of ‘Mumbai Dabbawalla’ said that delivery is important but how one delivers is far more important. Passion, commitment and consistency are the pillars of success for any business. Even if one has competitors they must be able to offer something to the customers which nobody else can. The client may not know what is good for them but the service provider must know their client’s wants and needs and be promptly able to deliver it.

Highlighting the main principles of creating a strong work ethic, Dr. Agarwal said that all Dabbawallas believe that –work is worship; the customer is God; there is no alternative to hard work and one must give importance to human values. Not only this, Dabbawallas must also possess qualities like – honesty, respect for time, confidence, perseverance, dedication, patience among others. When one works dedicatedly and consistently, the customer will call them their God, he further said.

MOTIVATIONAL TALK BY DR. RAEESH MANIAR

Filled with humorous quips, jokes and poetry, Gujarati Ghazal poet, Dr. Raaesh Maniar presented a light motivation talk on ‘Oonchi Rahe Udan Safar Rahe Aasan’. He said that over motivation is the disease of today’s youth. With digitisation feeding their minds, the youth is externally motivated but not internally. Highlighting a few business success mantras, he said that money is a by-product and one should use both their brain and heart when making business decisions. Similarly, he also said that success is valuable but little joys of life are invaluable.

FOOD RECIPE WORKSHOP BY CHEF RIPU DAMAN HANDA & TEAM

Food recipe workshops were held by Celebrity Chef Ripu Daman and team. The catering industry learned new recipes such as – Black Rice & Chia Seed Shorba, Bajra Risotto, Lentil and Sweet Potato Kebab with Eggplant and Plum Sauce and Green Pea Cappuccino. Live cooking demonstrations and tasting sessions were also held.

BUMPER LUCKY DRAW

A bumper lucky draw was also held. The winners won prizes like car, Activa, laptop, microwave, washing machines, water cooler, TV, toaster and griller, juicer and much more.
