Press Release

Hailing from the Kabra village of Relmagra district of Rajsamand, Bhawna Jat will be representing Rajasthan in the forthcoming Olympics 2020 to be held in Tokyo. Bhawna has recently set a national record in 20 km race walk in the National Championship. On the occasion, Rajsamand MP Diya Kumari honoured Bhawna Jat at the City Palace by presenting her with a cheque of Rs. 31,000.

Diya Kumari said that Bhawna Jat and Sonal Sukhwal realised the true spirit of the game and set a new example for the people of the region, their family, gurus, coaches and women. Sports builds up our health, mentally and physically. However, the new generation is forgetting to play outdoors which is directly impacting their health. The need of the hour is for the society to encourage children to engage in games and physical activities outdoors and cultivate their athletic talents.

She further said that she was earlier the brand ambassador of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign. Through the campaign she always appealed to the society to promote girl’s education and their upliftment by way of encouraging birth of girl-child and their life.
