Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts is organising an international exhibition of paintings ‘Celebrating Indian Languages – The Learning Curve’.  The exhibition was inaugurated by Minister of Art and Culture, Government of Rajasthan, Dr. B.D. Kalla today. Also, present on the occasion were Chief Secretary, Government of Rajasthan Shri D.B. Gupta and other prestigious artists.

On the occasion, Dr. B.D. Kalla said that the exhibition is an inspiration for the new generation to comprehend that regardless of whichever language we speak we are all alike.

Shri. DB Gupta said that in the exhibition international artists have created yoga paintings using local languages like Punjabi, Malayali, among others to bring their work forward, showcasing that the world is truly one.

Curator of the exhibition, Ms. Kiran Soni Gupta said that India has vast linguistic diversity with many languages and dialects. The exhibition is an attempt to present this diversity through artwork by international and national artists.

‘Celebrating Indian Languages -The Learning Curve’ is a curated exhibition of around 100 artists from all across India and abroad, showcasing the linguistic diversity of the country. Apart from artists from UK, USA, Germany, Brazil, Turkey and Austria, the exhibition will also showcase artwork by artists from Rajasthan, New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh. Selected paintings of senior and respected artists from the States of Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Assam, among others will also be displayed.

India has over 350 languages, a rare mix of languages that is unique to the country. The exhibition attempts to unravel the hidden power of Indian scripts spread across 4 major language families namely, Dravidian, Indo Aryan, Austro-Asiatic and Tibeto Burman. The theme set by the curator, Ms. Kiran Soni Gupta showcases the unity in diversity, vibrant colours, different ways of seeing things and multifaceted point of views of our nation through this beautiful artwork of artists.
