“YOU SHOULD BECOME YOUR OWN CEO”

In today’s age, students are becoming their own CEOs by establishing their start-ups. There is a different level of satisfaction in becoming your own CEO. Even though it takes time and effort to become an entrepreneur but if one can provide employment to even 10 people, one will be counted as a productive citizen for the economy. This was stated by the Chief Election Commissioner, Mr. Sunil Arora at Manipal University in Jaipur while he was addressing the Orientation Programme of the B.Tech students as the Chief Guest. The Orientation Programme was attended by over 1000 students and their parents.

He further said that while in college, it is important to both clear the exams as well as acquire knowledge. When one starts working – be it their own startup or in a corporate – one must analyze what one is giving back to the society. Mr. Arora also said that in the last election of India, there were as many as 600 million voters and the turn-out of women voters was also significantly higher than the previous elections. Increasingly more young people are voting. Voting is the brick and mortar on which the entire edifice of democracy is built, he added.

Advisor, Manipal Engineering & Medical Group, Mr. Abhay Jain was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. He threw light on the origins of the Manipal University in Jaipur. He said that a temporary campus was set up in 2011 in Jaipur with 300 students. Since then the University has won as many as 14 national awards and is among the Top 50 campuses across the globe.

While delivering the Presidential Address, Professor GK Prabhu said that studying in Manipal University is advantageous for three primary reasons. Firstly, it is a multi-disciplinary University with 54 Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses. It is a Multi-Cultural University as well. And lastly, the University also uses innovative ways of teaching, learning, student engagement etc.

On the occasion, Pro-President of MUJ, Professor NN Sharma highlighted the features of academic excellence such as Contemporary Curriculum, Digital Management System, Credits for online courses, among others. Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Professor Jagannath highlighted the salient features of the engineering programme running at MUJ. The Dean Student Welfare, Professor G.L. Sharma talked about the Teacher-Guardian scheme. Earlier, the Registrar, Professor HR Kamath welcomed all the dignitaries.

Now a week-long Induction Training Programme will be held for the students in which Knowledge about latest technology by trained experts will be given. A separate orientation for the Non-Engineering programme will be held on 26 July 2019.
