Jaipur Virasat Foundation and Alliance Française, Jaipur organized a mesmerizing musical theatre show ‘Main Jo Karti Kyu Karti’ at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK). In the program, five women folk musicians from Rajasthan shared their journey and experiences through a special performance. During the event, songs related to the memories of their life such as childhood, friendship, family, love, etc., were presented in a unique way. The objective of the event was to celebrate womanhood and their artistic identities. 

The program attempted a poetic experience which aimed to showcase women in a unique perspective. The performances highlighted the comical and notorious yet innocent side of women. Women folk artistes who presented in the program included Hanifa Khan Manganiyar, Kamla Devi Bhatt, Mamta Sapera, Mewa Sapera, and Prem Kanwar Dangi. It is noteworthy that this is the first time when women folk artistes from different communities and parts of Rajasthan collaborated for a musical theatre.

On this occasion, Director, Jaipur Virasat Foundation (JVF), Mr. Rakshat Hooja mentioned that as a part of this event, a four-day residential workshop was organized from 27 June with women folk artistes and theatre practitioners of Rajasthan in collaboration with Arya Niwas Hospitality and Studio Ainak and coordinated by Supriya. In this residential workshop, women folk musicians shared their voices, journeys, stories, identity and communities with the help of theatre. During this time, a performance was prepared to showcase the coming together of conversations, musical jams, improvisation exercises in a unique style.
