Dance performances recounting Devdas

Jaipur, 15 February:  A two-day contemporary dance performance, ‘ISSHH (क)’ is being organized at ‘Rangayan’ at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) in partnership with ‘A Pro Helvetia’ – Swiss Arts Council presentation. The programme will begin from tomorrow (16 February) at 6.30pm and witness its final day on 17 February, Friday.

 

ISSHH (क) draws upon Devdas, a novel recounting the ill-fated love story of Devdas, written bySarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. On an empty stage with the dancers of the Attakkalari DanceCompany, the show conceptualizer and choreographer, Nicole Seiler delves into a century ofacoustic perceptions, taking us on a choreographic-cinematic voyage that questions the infinitepossibilities of our imagination. Performances by Hemabharathy Palani, Parth Bhardwaj, Sylvester Mardi, Meghna Nambiar, Snigdha Prabhakar, Akshata Ravindra Joshi, Anindita Ghosh will be a part of the show’s choreography.

 

Nicole Seiler studied dance and theater at the Scuola Teatro Dimitri in Verscio (CH), the Vlaamse Dansacademie in Brugges (BE) and at Rudra Béjart in Lausanne (CH). Her research into multi-media which marries dance and video, gives rise to multifaceted dance performances, videos and choreographic installations.
