The Museum of Gem and Jewellery Federation, Jaipur was inaugurated on 26 September in the premises of Rajasthan Chamber Bhawan in the Pink City. The inauguration was done by President, Rajasthan Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr. Mahendra Singh Daga; President, IDCA, New York, Mr. Ashok Sancheti and philanthropist, Mr. Dilip Lakhi. The Chairman, Mr. Rajiv Jain; Secretary, Mr. Vijay Choradia; Coordinator Dr. Rajnikant Shah and the Board of Directors of the Museum were also present on the occasion. It is now open to the visitors.

On the Occasion, Dr. Rajnikant Shah who is also the person behind its creation, said that in June, 2015, the group formed a non–profiteering organisation named ‘Museum of Gem and Jewellery Federation, Jaipur’. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during the Resurgent Rajasthan with the Government of Rajasthan. He said it was indeed satisfying that the agreement with the Government had come to fruition. He said that the Federation and the trade would urge the Government to provide land on reserved rates for a full fledged museum. He outlined that the Museum will also give an opportunity to showcase the heritage of the fascinating story of the stone.

Mr. Daga said that the Chamber will consider the request of the jewellers to arrange for land for setting up the Museum. Mr. Sancheti thanked his fellow jewellers of New York for having come forward with financial support to set up the Museum. He said in future too as and when the Museum expanded they would not be lagging behind for support. Mr. Lakhi offered a financial support of Rs. 5 crore for setting up of the new Museum building.

Earlier, Mr. Rajiv Jain said that the Museum – only one of its kind in the country, will not only be a source of education and inspiration for the younger generation but also for the jewellers themselves. It will also help in promoting trade and tourism in the State.
