Jaipur, 25 September:  The 5th edition of Au-Jairangam the annual Jaipur Theatre Festival will be held from 21 November to 28 November this year. Au-Jairangam is the biggest theatre festival of India organized by a non-governmental body. The plays under the ambit of Au-Jairangam will be held at different venues of Jaipur like Birla Auditorium, Jawahar Kala Kendra, Maharana Pratap Auditorium as well as various schools and colleges. Apart from this, street plays (nukkad natak) will be held across different places in Pink City. This was informed by the President of 3M Dot Bands, Mr. Narendra Gour at a press conference in Jaipur.

He further said that the event will stand out for its celebrity artistes this year. Among them are: Paresh Rawal, Kiran Kumar,Kumud Mishra, Sudhir Pandey, Himani Shivpuri, Mohammed Zeeshan, Rakesh Bedi, Anjan Srivastav,Avtar Gill, Bharat Kapoor, Makarand Deshpande, Mita Vashisht,Ravi Mahashabde, Virendra Saxena, Samta Sagar, Shilpi Marwaha, Ranjit Kapoor, Arvind Gaur, Sanjay Upadhyaya, Happy Ranajit, Gagan Dev Riar, Imran Rashid, Sanjay Dadhich, Dr Gowri Ramnarayan and Teekam Joshi, among others.

The Festival Director, Mr. Deepak Gera informed that the weeklong theatre festival will witness six different activities this year – Proscenium Theatre, Street Plays, Rang Samwaad, Art Strokes, Khushboo-e-Rajasthan and Outreach Programme. There will be 33 plays in all. Out of these, 9 plays are from Jaipur, 1 Rajasthani play, 1 Non Verbal Play, 5 Solo plays, 5 English plays and 25 Hindi plays. A theatrical production by students of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh Vidyalaya will also be staged. These main stream plays will be held at two venues – Birla Auditorium and Jawahar Kala Kendra.

The Managing Director of Au Financiers (India) Ltd., Mr. Sanjay Agarwal said that it has been 20 years that Au Financiers has started its operations from Jaipur, Rajasthan. And now when we are transforming into a bank from an NBFC, it is time to pay-back to Jaipur by restoring the local theatre talent and to give Jaipurites an exposure towards best of art available in India and across the world through our association with Au-Jairangam.

Out of the 33 plays as many as 9 plays in the mainstream theatre will be performed by the Jaipur theatre artistes as well as groups. Along with veteran artistes, young artistes will also be showcasing their talent in Au-Jairangam. Around 150 artistes will be taking part in these plays.

A short film and a presentation were also shown on the occasion. The Creative Director of the festival, Mr. Narendra Arora moderated the event and Mr. Digvijay Dhabriya proposed the vote of thanks.
