Around 40 judges from countries like UK, USA, Uruguay, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, among others were briefed at the ‘Judges Seminar’ held at Taj Jai Mahal Palace. The seminar was held as a part of the ongoing ‘13th World Floral Show – Grand Floral Affair 2020’, which is on till 1 March at Diggi Palace. At the Seminar, the judges received direction and clarity on how to judge each class of floral exhibit at the show. The seminar focused on areas like – exhibitors queries, use of plant material, judging criteria, judging guidelines, special awards, staging and much more.
The seminar also allowed scope for the various judges to interact with each other and ask their questions regarding judging protocol. They were also briefed that the exhibits will be judged on the basis of – artistic merit, interpretation, practice material and distinction. Other principals of design like colour, line, design and texture were also briefly touched upon at the seminar. The judges were also guided on proper etiquette for meeting competitors which included – being kind, tactful, diplomatic and informative. Similarly, they were also taught how to avoid judging deadlock and how to reassess the exhibits by being decisive, impartial and avoiding bias.

On the third day there the ‘Judging of Competitions’ will be held from 1 pm to 6 pm. In the evening the ‘Grand Floral Affair’ will be inaugurated by Rajasthan Chief Minister, Shri Ashok Gehlot’ at 6.30 pm at Diggi Palace.

‘Grand Floral Affair’ － a World Flower Show & International Seminar － is a tri-annual event by WAFA. WAFA is a voluntary & non-profit global organisation of international floral art societies. WAFA encourages art of flower arrangement through workshops, seminars and flower shows. The events promote the exchange of information concerning floral art. The motto of the organisation is to spread friendship through flowers. Founded in 1981 by a group of flower arranging societies, WAFA now has 31 countries as its members.
