As part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) presented a ‘Shastriya Gayan’ performance at Rangayan in JKK. Young classical singer, Saurabh Vashisht mesmerised the audience with a mellifluous classical vocal performance. The artiste made ‘Raag Puriya’ the medium of his presentation. He presented the composition ‘Piya Gunvant sab hi batan main” in Ektaal Vilambit and ‘Sharan teri aai Maharaj’ in Teentaal Drut. He was accompanied by Dinesh Khichi on Tabla, Giriraj Balodiya on Harmonium as well as Ajay Kumar and Ranjit Singh on Tanpura.

It is worth noting that Saurabh Vashisht hails from the Benaras Gharana and is a student of Jaipur’s senior classical singer and music guru, P. Kundanmal Sharma. He has performed at many prestigious fairs including the country’s prestigious music festival, Harivallabh Sangeet Samaroh, Maharana Kumbha Sangeet Samaroh.
