SPECIAL SCREENING OF MACCHLI TIGRESS IN JAIPUR
There was a special screening of a docu-drama of Ranthambhore’s celebrated tigress ‘Macchli’ in Jaipur on Thursday (22 February). The 60-minute film has been shot by the well-known wildlife film maker, Mr. S. Nallamuthu. On the occasion the Minister for Forest and Environment, Government of Rajasthan, Mr. Gajendra Singh will be the Chief Guest while the Principal Secretary, Forest and Environment, Government of Rajasthan, Dr. Subodh Agarwal will be the Special Guest. The special screening was presented by Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) in collaboration with Prabha Khaitan Foundation and We Care. It is to be recalled that Ranthambhore’s famous tigress had breathed her last in August 2016.
The film, shot over a period of 9 years will have a ‘Indiawide’ release on the National Geographic Channel on 26 February at 8 pm.
Said Mr. Nallamuthu “there are different ways to promote conservation – one is through making films with a certain formula in which you directly say ‘save the tiger’. I feel a bigger impact is felt when people actually see tigers as sentient, mindful beings and bond with them. That is why I don’t say -‘save the tiger’ – I show people why you should save tigers by creating a human connect. This way people will bond with these extraordinary creatures and see their stories unfold as I have for the past 10 years.”
