In an insightful webinar on Sunday evening, Head Urology-Andrology, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai, Dr. Sanjay Pandey outlined the various aspects of urinary health, kidney stones, gender specific renal diseases as well as busted some common myths related to urinary and kidney health . The expert was speaking at a Webinar on ‘Know Your Urinary Health, Know Your Renal Robustness’ presented by Department of Science and Technology, Government of Rajasthan in collaboration with IAS Literary Society, Rajasthan and Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai. Held as a part of YASH (Year of Awareness on Science and Health), 2020 Dialogue Series, the session was moderated by Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Ms. Mugdha Sinha.
The webinar began with Dr. Pandey explaining the urinary system and the functions of its various organs. He said that urine is an important marker of overall health and well being. Kidneys perform extremely important functions for the body like keeping bones healthy, removing waste products, making  red blood cells, keeping blood pressure under control, among others. Talking in detail about kidney stones, he said that it is a common problem and drinking adequate amount of water throughout the day and consuming citrus fruits like lemon and orange helps in the prevention as well as cure of the problem. He advised sonography every 6 months to a year for those who have had a history of kidney stones.  
Dr. Pandey also spoke problems such as Stress Incontinence, Interstitial Cystitis among women and enlargement of prostate gland among men. The urologist also busted myths like donating a kidney to a relative endangers life; kidney is not affected by BP or diabetes; smoking does not affect kidneys; male and female urinary tracts are similar, among others. The presentation was followed by an interesting Q&A round in which the expert answered various questions of the audience in great detail.
