The 4th edition of the week-long Rang Rajasthan Theatre and Art Festival will begintomorrow at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK). Curated by Rang Mastaaney and presented by JKK, the festival offers 14 main stream productions, 7 Rajasthani folk performances and 7 celebrity talk shows. Also in store are 7 young directors’ plays, school outreach programme, open mic sessions and morning ragas this season.

The event will begin with an open mic session from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm in the Indian Coffee House. The hidden artistes of Jaipur will showcase their talent in this session. This will be followed by the staging of the play ‘Re Geliya’ by Kapil and Priyadarshini at Krishnayan at 3.30 pm. Renowned folk singer Mame Khan will share his success story and love for Rajasthan’s art and culture in a talk show at 4.30 pm at Rangayan.  This will be followed by staging of another play ‘Anji’ by Rajendra Panchal from Kota in Krishnayan.

The day will conclude with folk fusion music and dance performances in the evening at Madhyavarti. There will be Bhawai by Murari Lal & Group, Ghoomar by Jyoti Bharti Goswami and Shekhawati Chang by Shyam Sundar & Group.

The entry to the plays and folk performances is through tickets which can be obtained from JKK’s reception. For the open mic sessions and talk shows, the entry is open and free to all.

 It is to be realled that Rang Rajasthan is solely dedicated to promote Rajasthani language theatre on a national as well as international level. The idea is to preserve the state’s cultural roots and folk art for generations to come.
