The second day of the online workshop, ‘Bake A Bread’ conducted by food stylist and consultant, Arpita Mehta Paliwal was organised by Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK). The participants prepared different types of recipes with the basic bread dough they learned to make in the previous day’s lesson. Participants prepared their dough before the class and baked it along with the instructor. It was an interactive workshop, throughout which the instructor answered the participants’ questions.  

The lesson began with the preparation of ‘Ladi Pao’ which was prepared by smoothing the dough out and dividing it into 6 equal portions. Then they were covered and rested till the pao buns doubled. After this, the buns were brushed with milk and baked for 15-20 minutes at 200 degrees. Once the buns were done they were brushed with butter, and keep covered for 10 minutes till ready to be eaten.

Following this, ‘Burger Buns’ were prepared. It followed the same method of the Pao with an additional sprinkling of sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Then they were covered and kept aside to rise. After this, the buns were baked for 25-30 minutes at 200 degrees. They were then brushed with butter and keep covered with a damp kitchen towel for 10-15 minutes. Then the buns were released once cooled and sliced to make burgers.

The final recipe prepared during the workshop was ‘Pizza Muffins’ After the dough was smoothened out, it was dusted with some flour and flatten into dough balls. They were placed in the greased muffin moulds. After this, the pizza sauce, then the cheese, followed by the veggies were spooned on top. It was then sprinkled with some bits of cheese, seasoning, and chilli flakes. After this, the muffins were baked for 15-20 minutes, covered with a damp kitchen towel for 5-7 minutes and released from the pan.
