Press Release
On the eve of International Women’s Day, Rajsamand MP, Princess Diya Kumari urged women to be self-confident, pursue their passions relentlessly, raise their voices for crimes against women and overcome challenges to achieve success. She gave away awards to women achievers at two events – ‘Breaking Boundaries’ organised by Dainik Navjyoti Group and FORTI (Women Wing) at Hotel Fern and ‘Women Veneration Awards 2021’ at Hotel Jaipur Marriott.
On the occasion, MP Diya Kumari said that domestic violence is a big disease in our country which is often overlooked. This is because most women are scared and ashamed to raise their voices. Through the women helpline, many women can benefit and get assistance. Social media, too has become a major platform, for crimes against women especially during the pandemic. Strict laws need to be made to protect women on virtual platforms as well. Similarly, empowered women need to lend their guidance, assistance and mentorship to promote other women. Crimes against women have increased a lot in Rajasthan. Women should know their rights and how to protect themselves.
She further said: “The mindset of society needs to change. This needs to start from our homes. We are wrong to believe that gender bias only exists in rural areas or among the illiterate people. This is a glaring problem in urban areas and among literate families as well. We need to come together as a society and fight these evils. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is a social reformist for women. The numerous beneficial schemes introduced by him are proof of his irrevocable commitment towards women empowerment.”
