A ‘Scenic Design Workshop’, organized by Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) for the first time in Jaipur, began at Sudarshan gallery on Saturday. As many as 24 participants from Jaipur as well as Delhi, Gurgaon and Udaipur are participating in the workshop. The workshop is being conducted by the famous theatre personality and director, Satyabrata Rout and Ms. Mumal Tanwar is also supporting the teaching.
The workshop began with the introduction of the concept of designing to the participants by Prof. Rout. He said that design begins with lines. Set design shares a deep relationship with the actor. Prof. asked all the participants to understand the implied relationship and observe the lines and structure in the JKK premises. All the participants visited various parts of JKK and defined these relationships and expressed their individual views.
Over the course of the workshop, the participants will be shown 2 plays to understand the concept of ‘Scenic Design’ in depth. Prof. Rout will also teach the participants about the use of colors, co-ordination, texture, objects and preparation of model set for the plays.
During the workshop participants will be taught about the use of visual space according to the subject and the relationship between the design and painting. The level till which the scenes can be decorated in theatre and its effect on the audience, among others will be explained in the workshop.
