A ‘LEED Lab’ has been set up at Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) on Tuesday. It has been established by the University’s School of Architecture and Design (SA&D) in collaboration with Green Business Certification Institute (GBCI) India . LEED Lab is a multidisciplinary immersion course that utilizes the built environment to educate and prepare students to become green building leaders and sustainability-focused citizens. It  was launched by the President of the University, Dr. G.K. Prabhu,  and Managing Director of GBCI (APAC and Middle East Markets), Mr.Gopalakrishnan P. The Pro-President (MUJ), Dr. N.N.Sharma, Registrar (MUJ),  Dr. H.R. Kamath and Director Architecture & Design, Prof.(Dr.) Madhura Yadav were present at the occasion.

Speaking at the launch event, Dr. G.K. Prabhu said that the lab will provide an opportunity for academicians and students to be exposed to the theory and practice of green building design and certification. The campus of MUJ is already a certified ‘Green Campus’ with various sustainable practices making it a Living lab for promoting green research and education, he added. He also outlined the various awards and achievements received by the University in recent times.

President & CEO, GBCI, Mahesh Ramanujam informed that the LEED Lab course at MUJ will help equip the next generation of sustainability advocates with the practical experience needed to differentiate themselves in today’s job market. He also thanked MUJ for continuing partnership to nurture and train a workforce that will be essential to addressing future sustainability needs in India and improving the quality of life in our communities.
