The 3 day Jaipur Design Show ‘NinedotSquares’, presented by RK Marble, was inaugurated today by MLA Sawai Madhopur, Princess Diya Kumari at Diggi Palace today. On the occasion, Princess Diya Kumari said that ‘NinedotSquares’ provides an excellent opportunity to learn about both traditional and modern art. One can gain insight into the world of architecture and interiors. She also appreciated the association of young designers with the initiative and the innovative installations displayed at the show.
Founder of Saray Designs, Mitchell Abdul Karim Crites during his inaugural address said that ‘NinedotSquares’ is an initiative that clearly understands that artists need orders, commissions, and projects to help keep precious arts and crafts alive. The clear intention of ‘NinedotSquares’ to bring the design community of Jaipur closer to the large community of artists and artisans who inhabit Jaipur is applaudable. Crites also showed a series of images on the screen which gave a glimpse of the history of Jaipur and the important role played by arts and crafts in the growth and development of the city.
After the inaugural address, award-winning Rangoli artist Rahul Swami also displayed his talent by making a beautiful Rangoli design in honor of Princess Diya Kumari. Throughout the day the workshops, exhibition of unique interior design products as well as the innovative installations attracted many visitors. In the evening at 8 pm, there will be a performance by the band ‘Sounds of Sufi’.
It is to be recalled that the theme of ‘NinedotSquares’ this year is ‘Artisans Reinvented’. The brainchild of Ritu Khandelwal and Shalini Agarwal, the event aims to revive traditional arts and crafts as well as engage its attendees in various activities and interactions including workshops on various crafts.
