Design Students Learn Concept Jewellery Designing

Design students of Jaipur learned the art of designing jewellery using everyday concepts and objects. Jaipur Jewellery Design Festival (JJDF) organized the workshop on ‘Design Inspiration and Modern Trends’. JJDF is an integrated part of the ongoing JJS. The workshop was conducted by jewellery designer, Mr. Gautam Banerjee. The hour-long workshop focused on instilling the students with confidence to design without wasting time on creating drafts. Mr. Banerjee said that jewellery designing is the language of art. Concept jewellery designing is essential to enter the commercial jewellery market. He directed the young designers to gather inspiration from everyday concepts like a glass of water, a view of the forest, the string of a balloon, among others and transform them into designs.

Jewelry Making Machinery

Jewellery making tools and allied machinery is a major feature of the JJS this year. People are coming in large numbers to witness technological advancement in field the gems and jewellery. Visitors took great interest in commercial machinery used for laser welding, cutting and marking. These machines are used to solder metals and inscribe on jewellery to create hallmarks. A special attraction of the machinery section was the concept of 3D printing jewellery. Many jewelers now prefer to use such printers to craft multiple jewellery designs in mere 2 hours. The finished designs are not only flawless but also detailed and can be easily edited as per the jeweler’s convenience.
