On the concluding day of the 5-Day ‘Young Directors Theatre Festival’, immortal folk tale of Mumal-Mahendra (Ek Prem Kataha) was staged at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK). The play was directed by Preeti Dubey and has been commissioned by JKK.

The play is based on a folklore of ‘Mumal Mahendra’.  Mahendra is the prince of Amarkot. One day while chasing a prey, along with his brother-in-law, Hamir he arrives at Lodarva in Jaisalmer. Here Mahendra meets Mumal and falls in love with her. 

The play advanced with the promises of Mahendra that he will meet her again. Every night Mahendra comes back to Lodarva riding on his camel to meet Mumal and goes back to Amarkot the same night. This continues for some time. The play depicts how Mumal Mahendra face challenges in their life and their love becomes immortal. 

The cast of the play included – Garima Sharma (Mumal), Rupesh Singh Chauhan (Mahendra), Saurabh Anand Soni (Hamir) and others. Other members of the team included – Tapesh R Pawar (Music Diresctor), Divya Arora, Rakesh Sharma (Art Work), Aditi Dikshit (Costume Design).  The Light Team consisted of Sahil Ahuja, Swapnil Jain and Priti Dubey.
