Curtain Raiser Press Release 

Jaipur, 7 June: Confederation of Indian Industry; Department of Finance and Commercial Tax Department, Government of Rajasthan are jointly organising a comprehensive one-day training programme on Goods & Services Tax (GST) on Saturday, 17 June at Hotel Clarks Amer in Jaipur. The programme will be inaugurated by Minister for Industries, Government of Rajasthan, Mr. Rajpal Singh Shekhawat as Chief Guest. This was informed today by the Chairman, CII Rajasthan State Council, Mr Basantt Khaitan.

According to Mr Khaitan, “It is being consistently highlighted that GST will be a game changing reform for the Indian economy by creating a common Indian market and reducing the cascading effect of tax on the cost of goods and services. He also add that it will impact the tax structure, tax incidence, tax computation, tax payment, compliance, credit utilization and reporting, leading to a complete overhaul of the current indirect tax system.”

Mr Khaitan further added that industry and professionals are not aware of many aspects related to GST. In this context they have received a feedback from various pockets of Industrial hubs in Rajasthan to organise a detailed daylong session on GST. The event will cover various aspects and know-how of practical implications of GST in doing business across sectors.

According to the Director & Head, CII Rajasthan State Office, Mr Nitin Gupta, “GST is India’s most significant tax reform in decades. GST, when implemented, is expected to usher in a harmonised national market of goods and services and shall lead to a simplified, assessee-friendly tax administration system. Once implemented, it will subsume most of the country’s central and state level duties and taxes, thus making the country a national market and contribute significantly to the growth of the economy.”

Mr Gupta added that this is an opportunity for everyone who is engaged in any kind of business to understand the procedural requirements and get the solution for their queries and learn to be a perfect part of the business houses. CII is organising sessions all across India.

In Rajasthan, Chief Minister has specially advised CII to conduct sessions. Apart from Jaipur, we shall be organising this session at Jodhpur, Kota, Bhilwara etc in June and July, said Mr. Gupta.

Mr. Gupta further informed that the topics to be discussed during the training session would be GST- Pre & Post, GST Law, Rules and Supply alongwith many ancillary topics.

Mr Basantt Khaitan informed that programme is shaping very well and industry is looking forward to collect information on various topics. He said that Secretary, Finance, Government of Rajasthan, Mr Praveen Gupta; Commissioner, Commercial Tax Department, Mr Alok Gupta  and IRS, Officer on Special Duty, Department of Finance, Government of Rajasthan, Ms Meenal Bhosale will address the session. Eminent tax advocate and subject experts from New Delhi Ex Indian Revenue Service officer Mr Pramod Kumar Rai, B.Tech (IIT Kanpur), LLB (Gold Medal), LLM (USA), Managing Partner, Athena Law Associates and Mr Puneet Agrawal, Advocate, B. Com (H), C.A., LLB, Partner, Athena Law Associates will also speak on the occasion.
