On the occasion of the eve of Baisakhi, the members of the ‘Sukhmani Sewa Society Bani Park’, rendered ‘kirtan’ and ‘ardas’ at the Sarvatobhadra Chowk of City Palace. The historic sword of the 10th Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh, was displayed for the members of the society.

President, Sukhmani Sewa Society, Ms. Pinky Singh informed that during the program, the members sang “Mera Baid Guru Gobinda”, “Nasro Mansoor Guru Gobind Singh”, and “Wah Wah Gobind Singh Aape Guru Chela”. The Secretary of the society, Mr. Surya Uday Singh informed the history of Guru Gobind Singh’s sword and offered ‘ardas’ for the well-being of all. Also present on the occasion were Executive Trustee, MSMS II Museum, Ms. Rama Dutt; Director, MSMS II Museum, Dr. Rima Hooja and OSD, Mr. Ramu Ramdev.

It is to be recalled that Guru Gobind Singh had stayed in Nahan (Sirmaur District) for some time. While leaving Nahan he had presented his personal sword as a memento to the then ruler, ancestors of Rajmata Padmini Devi. She had brought the sword to Jaipur a few years ago and is now at the City Palace. The members of the society expressed their gratitude to Rajmata Padmini Devi for giving them an opportunity to pay their tribute to the historic sword.

The religious significance of the Baisakhi festival is that on this day, the 10th Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh, established the ‘Khalsa Panth’ in Anandpur Sahib in 1699. He made the ‘Panj Pyare’ drink ‘amrit’ and created the Khalsa. He also drank ‘amrit’ from their hands. Guru Gobind Singh also gave two slogans – “Jo Bole So Nihal, Sat Shri Akal” and “Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa – Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.” These slogans are the identity of the Sikh religion. Under the auspices of Baisakhi, the members of the paath group ‘Apni Mehar Kar’ of the society recited 7,700 paaths of ‘Guru Ji Chaupai Sahib’. Baisakhi is being celebrated with great fanfare in all Gurudwaras. The festival inspires everyone to follow the path shown by Guru Gobind Singh.

The book ‘The Adornments of Gods’ written by author Devdutt Pattanaik will be launched on Saturday, 15 April at the Amrapali Museum in Jaipur. The event will be organized from 4 PM to 7 PM. On the occasion, the author Devdutt Pattanaik, the Managing Director of India’s only Museum consulting company, Eka Cultural Resources & Research, Mr. Promod Kumar KG, and the founders of Amrapali Museum Rajiv Arora and Rajesh Ajmera will discuss the book. Rajsamand MP Diya Kumari, who is also a member of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), has written a letter to the Union Minister of Environment and Forest, Mr. Prakash Javadekar. She has expressed her disappointment and concern over a recent confidential report submitted to the State Government. The report on the status of 116 tigers of Ranthambore National Park (RNP) is disturbing. It states that as many as 26 tigers are missing from the park.

In her letter, Diya Kumari has appealed to Mr. Javadekar for a high level enquiry to get down to the bottom of the matter. It states that the poachers must be identified, caught and strict action must be taken against them so that such incidents are not repeated.

Furthermore, the MP also stated in her letter that the attitude of the concerned officials and authorities of the park is half-hearted and lackadaisical. A national park is supposed to conserve the endangered animals and not lead to their decrease in numbers.

Diya Kumari also recalls her tenure as the MLA of Sawai Madhopur when made all efforts to work with the concerned authorities and also lent a hand in their conservation efforts.

                                    “THE NEW RIPS POLICY WILL ADDRESS ISSUES RELATING TO TOURISM PROPERTIES”

Pushkar, 7 September:  The new Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS) will address issues related to tourism units. This was stated by Commissioner Industries, Government of Rajasthan, Dr. Krishna Kant Pathak. He was speaking at session ‘New MSME Act, Rajasthan investment promotion Scheme (RIPS) and other schemes of Government of Rajasthan at the 8^th Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA) Annual Convention held at Hotel Aaram Baagh in Pushkar. He said the policymakers were well aware that the tourism sector has huge potential and needs to be given a boost with incentives and other measures. Bearing this in mind the new policy will be investment friendly for tourism projects. However, the Commissioner cautioned that the hoteliers must ensure that the building byelaws were followed strictly. In the same session, the Deputy Directors, Mr. Ajay Sharma outlined the incentives given for heritage properties. He informed that the new Tourism Policy was in the offing for which he invited the hoteliers to give their suggestions. He said 87 heritage properties had already been given Heritage Certificates by the Department of Tourism. He urged other hotels to apply for the same.

Earlier, an exhibition featuring various hospitality and industry related products was inaugurated by the Punjab Tourism Minister, Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi. He appreciated the various tourism related products.

During his Presidential address, Maharaja Gaj Singh Jodhpur said that heritage hotels had played a pivotal role in promoting rural tourism. The travel and tourism sector provides employment opportunities to a large number of people. This sector must be proactively promoted by the Government.

In a highly enlightening session entitled ‘Relevance of Social Media for Heritage Hotels’, social media expert, Ms. Kalinika Chauhan said that social media should be integrated with other marketing tools of heritage hotels. It is important to choose one’s social media platform according to one’s target group and keep the audience engaged by posting relevant and creative content consistently.

In a session on ‘Talking Maya for Ourselves’, CMD, Neemrana Hotels, Mr. Amar Nath said that one must detach themselves from Maya which is attraction towards material possessions. Humility is the greatness of our culture not arrogance. One must be willing to think beyond what is expected and give away what one has willingly.

Some of the other sessions were on ‘Sustainability’ by Director, Ecolive, Mr. Sunil Pachar; ‘Conducting a Startup Accelerator Program for Heritage Hotels’ by CEO, Startup Oasis, Mr. Chintan Bakshi and Co-founder, Thrillophilia, Mr. Abhishek Daga.
