Jaipur, 6 December: As a part of the weekend cultural programme at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK), a three day ‘Thirak Utsav’ is being organised from 9 December. The event is being organised by Thirak India Cultural Society in collaboration with Raza Foundation. It is supported by Jaipur Development Authority and Department of Art and Culture, Government of Rajasthan, among others.

Renowned Kathak artiste and Director of Thirak Utsav, Ms. Manisha Gulyani informed that the framework of Thirak Utsav is to give people knowledge of Kathak through the medium of Symposims and master classes. Under this festival, the representatives of 7 renowned Gurus of Jaipur Gharana will talk about their contributions and share views relating to minute details of Kathak.

On day 1 (9 December), an enchanting performance ‘Navak’ will be given by young students and thriving talent of Jaipur under the direction of Kaushal Kant Panwar, Sangeeta Singhal, Manisha Gulyani and Jitendra Rana from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm at Krishnayan Auditorium . Later in the evening will be a Kathak concert of Ms. Gulyani, followed by a Bharatnatyam performance by Ms. Rama Vaidyanathan from 6:30 pm to 8 pm at Rangayan Auditorium.

On day 2 (10 December), symposium will take place at Krishnayan auditorium of JKK from 10 am to 2 pm. The guest speakers on this day will be Pt. Charan Girdhar Chand from Singapore who will be speaking on ‘Contribution of Guru Narayan Prasad Ji’; Pt. Rajendra Gangani from New Delhi on ‘Contribution of Guru Kundanlal Gangani’; Guru Geetanjali Lal from New Delhi on ‘Contribution of Guru Devilal & Guru Durgalal ’; and Guru Pt. Girdhari Maharaj on ‘Contribution of Guru Pt. Laxminarayan’. Guru Prerana Shrimali from New Delhi will be the moderator.

Three master classes will be conducted at Krishnayan Auditorium by Pandit Rajendra Gangani from New Delhi (from 3 pm to 4 pm), Guru Geetanjali Lal from New Delhi (from 4 pm to 5 pm) and Pt. Charan Girdhar Chand from Singapore (from 5 pm to 6 pm).

Later in the evening from 6.30 pm to 8 pm will be an Odissi dance performance by Mr. Saswat Joshi, followed by Kathak dance by Ms. Prerana Shrimali at Rangayan Auditorium.

On day 3 (11 December), Symposiums will be held from 10 am to 2 pm at Krishnayan Auditorium. The guest speakers will be Padma Vibhushan Uma Sharma from New Delhi speaking on ‘Contribution of Guru Sundar Prasad’; Guru Sushmita Mishra & Kajal Mishra from Kolkata on ‘Contribution of Guru Pt. Jaylal & Pt. Ramgopal’; Guru Pannalal Kathan from Ganganagar, Dr. Rekha Thakar & Sangeeta Singhal from Jaipur on ‘Contribution of Guru Gauri Shankar’ and Pt. Rajkumar Javda from Jaipur on Contribution of guru Kanhaiyalal Javda’. The moderator will be Guru Prerana Shrimali from New Delhi.

Two master classes will be taken by Guru Sushmita Mishra & Kajal Mishra from Kolkata (from 3 pm to 4 pm) and Padma Vibhushan Uma Sharma from New Delhi (from 4 pm to 5 pm) at Krishnayan Auditorium.

The evening will witness a Sattriya dance performance by Ms. Anwesa Mahanta and a kathak performance by Ms. Aditi Mangaldas from 6.30 pm to 8 pm at Rangayan Auditorium.
