 ‘Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet 2016’ in Jaipur

Jaipur, 4 October: Rajasthan has tremendous potential for development of agriculture sector as the state has emerged as country’s largest producer of several agriculture commodities. Considering the fact that appropriate technologies have a critical role to play in attaining innovation led growth of Rajasthan agriculture, ‘Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet, 2016’ (GRAM) will have a dedicated section on showcasing finest of agrotechnologies to visitors. This section will be located on a large area and will be named “Smart Farm”. This was informed by the Principal Secretary Agriculture Ms. Neelkamal Darbari.

‘GRAM’ is scheduled to be held in Jaipur from 9 to 11 November this year.

Principal Secretary further informed that the ‘Smart Farm’ will be a live walkthrough model that will be built at ‘GRAM’ venue.  It will showcase the best of moderntechnologies in entire agriculture value chain starting from pre-harvest, post-harvest to modern scientific storage, banking and agri marketing opportunities. This farm will also effectively disseminate information about various Rajasthan Government policies and new initiatives in each section of value chain, she added.

The concepts like centre of excellence, micro irrigation technologies, ICT, Value addition, scientific warehousing are crucial for the farmer to attain a broader vision. They will be aesthetically displayed at the Smart Farm which is expected to be a centre of attraction at the event.

The visitors to gram will get an opportunity to walkthrough the entire smart farm model through multiple entries and exits and carry a message of “importance of innovation and modern technologies in agriculture and allied sector.”

The other major objective of the ‘Smart Farm’ will be to display the importance of resource conservation in future farming. For this the smart farm will highlight features such as – water use efficiency technologies, importance of soil testing, organic farming,farm mechanization.

It is to be recalled that the Rajasthan is number one in production of carom-seeds, coriander, fenugreek, mustard, henna, isabgol, guar, bajra and coarse wool. It is number two in the production gram, cumin seeds and all coarse cereals. It also leads in the production of soyabean, pulses, seed spices, oilseeds, oranges and garlic. Apart from this, Rajasthan also ranks number two in dairy and livestock.
