On the inaugural day of 6th edition of ‘VASTRA – 2017’, industry leaders from Textile sector, Industry associations representing various segments of textiles, foreign buyers and policymakers had marathon interaction on working out a roadmap to develop Rajasthan into a Garment Hub for exports as well as domestic market. The Roundtable Conference on “Making Rajasthan a Garment Hub” was concurrently organized in the event. Representatives from Karnataka government present in the fair also participated to share their best practices. The conference was chaired by Hon’ble Industries Minister, Govt of Rajasthan, Shri Rajpal Singh Shekhawat.

Participants deliberated on various issues relating to the garmenting sector –  from enhancing the availability of skilled labour to taxation to policy framework.

Briefing the press, RIICO Managing Director, Ms. Mugdha Sinha said that various pockets of the State are specialized in different fabric, designs and style. Industries Minister, Rajasthan expressed for adopting strategy to align traditional skill set being practiced in the State with the modern designing. He also underlined the importance of Government understanding industry views on growth of different sectors. Continuing, Ms. Sinha informed that the deliberations of the Roundtable Conference would help the state to work out the strategy and policy interventions required for growth of garment industry in the state.
