Curtain Raiser Press Release

More than 70 participants to perform to ballet and salsa dance forms in traditional ballet attire
A unique mother-daughter performance

Jaipur, 29 April: Pink City will witness a unique and innovative fusion ballet choreography event tomorrow at Birla Auditorium. Entitled ‘Ballet Expose’, the event is based on the theme ‘Get Addicted to Happiness’. The event is being organised by Jaipur’s dance studio, Stripes Inc., Shree Cement Ltd., We Care, Raghu Sinha Mala Mathur Charitable Trust and Adbhut Jewels.

The show will feature more than 70 participants performing to ballet and salsa dance forms on authentic Latin and Bollywood tunes as well as to Scherzo Classical music. Apart from one classical ballet dance performance, the other performances will be essentially experimental fusion.

The programme will begin with a fusion performance of Semi-Classical and Ballet dance forms by Laxmi Surana (Founder of Dancebelia) and Adittee Somani (Founder of dance studio Stripes Inc.), respectively.

Following this, performers of varying age groups will dance to well-known English tunes like ‘Sugar Sugar’, ‘Dilly Dilly’, ‘Raindrops on Roses’, ‘Daddy Cool’, ‘Skyfall’, ‘Shine’, ‘Cheap Thrills’, among others. There will also be performances on Bollywood tunes.

This time a unique feature of the evening will be a mother-daughter ballet performance. In this five mother-daughter pairs will be presenting ballet dance wearing the classical ballet attire – tutus. It is noteworthy that these mothers do not have any dance background but are performing just for their little daughters aged between 4 to 7 years. Another highlight of the show will be the “Salsalarinas” who are essentially ballerinas performing Salsa dance. All participants will also be wearing the traditional ballerina shoes of different colours.
