Press Release

As a part of the ongoing Junior Summer Programme at the Jawahar Kala Kendra, a 20 days dance workshop entitled Creative Moments began yesterday. As many as 60 children aged between 8 to 16 years are participating in the workshop. While today the participants enjoyed some ice breaking interactive and coordination games, the following days will progress into more activities with the elements of theatre and dance with basics of contemporary dance, expressive games and improvisation of choreography.

The dance workshop is being facilitated by the Attakkalari Dance Company which is a Bangalore based art education institute that endeavours to create awareness towards quality art education. One of the facilitators of the workshop, Mr. Parth, informed that the idea behind this workshop is to encourage children not only to perform but sensitize them towards the arts. Performance is just one part of it, we want to inculcate an inclusive experience, that’s how participants differentiate this art from the others. The other facilitators for the workshop are Akhil, Anandita and Aarti.
