As a part of the ongoing month and a half long ‘Junior Summer Program’, ‘Taal’ a percussion instruments workshop was held at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK). The workshop was conducted by Mr. Piyush Rao of Vanasthali. The children learned the beats of various percussion instruments like – drums, cymbals, bass drums, snare drums, among others.
The workshop began with the participants learning 2 beats and 5 beats on the drum kit. Over the course of the workshop the children will also learn western and Indian beats, double bass and double rolling drumming techniques. At the end of the workshop the students will perform a short percussion routine accompanied by singing.
