The Chief Election Commissioner, Mr. Sunil Arora, will be addressing over 2000 students and parents at the orientation programme of the Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) on 19 July. This was informed by the Pro-President of MUJ, Professor NN Sharma and the Registrar, Prof. H. R. Kamath at a Press Conference.

While the Presidential address will be given by Professor GK Prabhu, the Dean Student Welfare, Professor G.L. Sharma will talk on the Teacher-Guardian scheme at the Orientation Programme.  The Pro-President, Professor NN Sharma will outline the salient features of the University leadership. The origins of the Manipal University will be highlighted by Advisor, Manipal Engineering & Medical Group, Mr. Abhay Jain.

Professor NN Sharma further said that MUJ started with 250 students in 2011 and now there are over 9000 students. MUJ has also adopted a ‘Contemporary Curriculum’ whereby online courses have been made a part of the credit system. Furthermore, over 40 start ups are undergoing to process of incubation at the Atal Incubation Center set up at the MUJ by the Government of India.

Dr. Kamath informed that after the Orientation Programme, a week-long Induction Training Programme will be held for the students. Knowledge about latest technology by trained experts will be given. A LEED Lab which is a multidisciplinary immersion course that utilizes the built environment to educate and prepare students to become green building leaders and sustainability-focused citizens was also recently launched at the University.

Many parents of the students will also be attending the orientation programme on 19 July. A separate orientation for the Non-Engineering programme will be held on 26 July 2019. Manipal University has been approved by AICTE for all its B.Tech. Programmes.

MUJ has State of Art hostel facilities and can accommodate around 5000 students. A well-qualified team of 480 faculty members with more than 59% holding PhD Degrees is the strength of the University.

The students are encouraged to participate in various extracurricular activities and also made provisions for the student welfare by providing the scholarship of more than 3 Crore rupees.
