The 5 day Light Design workshop by the veteran light designer, Shymon PM concluded at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK). On the concluding day, the participants of the workshop were divided into 5 groups. Each group presented a play with their own light designs. The Additional Director General, Jawahar Kala Kendra, Mr. Furqan Khan was also present on the occasion. He also felicitated the resource person of the workshop, Mr. Shymon PM. The ADG said that workshops on specific areas of theater such as light and set design, play writing, etc. are important and in the future also such workshops will be held .
Over the course of the 5 days of the workshop, the participants got an insight into the history of stage lighting. They were also taught how to handle the lights, how to design for a performance according to the type of venue, mood, rhythm and costume etc. Information on the practical aspects of light design like lighting plot/plan for theatre as well as dance and music performances was also given. The plan was also displayed on the concluding day.
It is worth noting that this kind of a workshop was held for the first time in JKK. The workshop was attended by participants from different backgrounds like theatre direction, acting, film making and dance. Some of the participants were even from outside Jaipur.
